PARISH PRIORITIES UPDATE

Latest Updates on Aspley Heath Priorities

ASPLEY WOODS

The Parish Council is meeting with the  Bedford Estate, Greensand Trust and Central Beds Council to discuss various issues within the woods.  We are aware of the increased usage and the problems this is causing.  If you have any concerns please contact the Clerk.

CAR PARK SURFACE

The car park surface and the surrounding area at the top of Church Road has now been repaired by Central Beds Council.   We are now awaiting CBC to install the log posts to mark out the parking bays.

HARDWICK ROAD

We are in communication with MK Council to inform them of the increasing problems with traffic, speeding and parking. Residents concerns over safety is paramount.  MK Council have said they will re-paint the yellow lines.

SPEEDING AND PARKING THROUGHOUT THE PARISH

This has been an increasingly worsening issue throughout the parish.

With the present lock down matters have been exacerbated. With no other forms of social or leisure outlets people have been coming to the woods en mass.

Hopefully once lockdown is lifted the number of visitors will be somewhat diluted.

But with MK expanding and more people realising how lovely it is to walk in our woods, numbers will increase and we need to think of ways to make this safer and more tenable for local residents and visitors.

We have a new Speedwatch team and

Lynn Roberts is the new co ordinator.

The speeding and parking survey has been completed and a copy of the results can be found here:

Parking and Traffic Survey Results

We will continue to press for action on all these matters.
